Wednesday August 5, Muse De Arte De Puerto Rico

In the afternoon we boarded the van and headed east to the Museum of Art of Puerto Rico. The museum was somewhat close to the school. It was in the Santurce section of metropolitan San Juan. Below are some of the scenes from the back of the museum. There was a lush tropical garden with a waterfall and a wide variety of multicolored fish in the pond.

There was no photography of any kind allowed in the museum. In fact, they wanted us to leave our bags at the reception desk, but with the cameras and other things I had in the bag, I sort of missed that instruction. Nobody said anything about it as I walked through the museum. Below are some shots of the main lobby. There was a gift shop there, but unlike other museums I've been in, they did not have anything that represented some of the artwork that was in the museum. We've done an activity in English class where we go on-line and look at some artwork in the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. and then have the students comment and write an interpretation of what the work is. I will try and see if we can do the same with this museum once school starts.
